Vivian Irene Walther, 91, North Manchester, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in North Creek, Putnam County, Ohio, the daughter of John and Eva (Schafer) Brecht. She married Maurice C. Walter on Jan. 30, 1938. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Linda) Pyle, Silver Lake; a sister, Dorothy Freeman, North Manchester; three grandsons, Jeffrey (Beth) Pyle, North Manchester, Michael (Cindy) Pyle, Silver Lake, and Kirk (Jennie) Pyle, North Manchester, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Walther and her husband, Maurice, founded Walther Insurance Agency, Silver Lake, in 1959. They retired from the insurance business in 1984. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester.

She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1936. Vivian was a 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Ivy Chapter No.60 Order of Eastern Star, North Manchester. She was past Grand Representative of Indiana Grand Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She was a retired member of Psi Iota Xi, North Manchester.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St. North Manchester. Pastor Kurt Stout and Deaconess Sabine Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester. Calling also one hour prior to service Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel. Memorials may be made to Timbercrest Retirement Community, PO Box 501, North Manchester, IN 46962.
