Loyd was the son of Horace M. and Emma May (Morris) Orr. He married Mary Faye Cariker on June 9, 1956 in the Jean United Methodist Church.
Loyd Dean spent most of his life in Young County farming and working in the oilfield. He had been an employee of Young County Precinct 4 having retired after 29 years. Loyd was a member of the Graham Antique Tractor Club and Jean United Methodist Church.
Survivors at time of death included his wife, Mary Faye Orr of Graham; brothers, W.C. Orr of O'Brian and Waldo Orr of Brazil and one sister, Virginia Carter of Midland.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ovelle Moreland and two brothers, Donald and Harold Orr.
