Gary Wayne Hyde, 65 of Arbela, Missouri, passed away February 12, 1999, in the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

The son of Merritt and Virgil (Stone) Hyde, he was born January 16, 1934, in Scotland County, Missouri. He was a lifelong resident of Scotland County, except when he served his country during the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Irene Garrison on February 7, 1959, and to this union two children were born: Gary Leon and LaNell Ilene.

He worked for 13 years at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital and also for 13 years for the Scotland County Schools as a custodian. He had also worked for one year at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital on the Green Thumb program. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Eddie Hyde; and a brother-in-law, Alba Fountain.

Surviving are his wife, Irene of Arbela, Missouri; a son, Gary Leon Hyde and friend Mindy Mitchell of Pacific, Missouri; and LaNell Ilene Hyde and friend Sean Waibel of Memphis, Missouri; two sisters, Joetta Fountain of Kahoka, Missouri and Carol Dochterman and husband Robert of Arbela, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held February 15, 1999, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, Missouri with the Reverend Leon Buford officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Wiley, David Smith, Junior Bertram, Vernon Bullock, Michael Steeples, and Ronnie Dochterman. Honorary bearers were Clyde Lay, Bill Blake, Wesley Lay, and Tom Shalley.

Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Arbela, Missouri. Memorials have been suggested to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis, Missouri chapel.
