Alice Barallan Nockolds, the youngest child of Samuel Riches Nockolds and Lydia Coleman Nockolds, lived in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk County, England, with her family until adulthood. She was a teacher and relocated to Tientsin, China. She lived and taught there for most of her adult life.

Alice never married and had no children.

The spelling of Tientsin has apparently changed to Tianjin.

A letter from the Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China, dated December 4, 1952, gives the details of her death and funeral. In part, it reads as follows:
"Miss A.B.A. Nockolds died in the International Hospital, Tientsin, N. China on the 24th of April 1952. Her death was duly recorded with the British Consul, Tientsin. Her funeral took place of the 26th April, 1952 and she was buried in the American Legion Cemetery - Off Race Course Road, Tientsin, attended by a few close friends. She was buried under Church of England Service and rights at our All Saints Church Tientsin."
