Virginia W. "Ginger" (Wright) Woodmansee, 76, of Arcadia Rd., Hope Valley, RI, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Clifton "Gus" Woodmansee.
Born in Westerly, RI, on October 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Watson) Wright.
Mrs. Woodmansee was the Vice President of H.C. Woodmansee and Sons Oil and Heating Company for over 50 years and had been working in the office daily up until several months ago.
Ginger was an avid golfer and a member of several leagues at the Richmond Country Club, Wood River Golf Course and Lindhbrook Country Club.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in HopeValley for many years.
Ginger had a love for animals and a special love for horses. She was an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Besides her husband of 54 years, she will be sadly missed by her two children, Frances "Fran" Gilman and her husband William Gilman, Jr., of Hope Valley, RI, and Clifton H. Woodmansee and his wife Cynthia Woodmansee, of Exeter. She was the loving Nana of Billy Gilman, Colin Gilman, Kylie Woodmansee and Clifton H. "CJ" Woodmansee, Jr. She also leaves her brothers and sister, Calvin Wright of FL, Marjorie Fenton of Providence, RI, and Forest Wright of ME. She was predeceased by her sister Jean St. Marie.
Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church in HopeValley. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Her family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-8 pm in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, corner of Main and Bank Streets, Hope Valley, RI.
