He was born in what is now Union Township, Adams County, PA. He married Margaret Barbara Feeser about 1775-76. He purchased his father's 200 acre farm [lat 39.757730 long -77.037815] from his sister and brother-in-law Nicholas and Eve Sell Dill in 1782. Adam and Barbara had eleven children: Hannah Study, Adam, Maria Elizabeth Hull, Abraham, Anna Maria, Elizabeth Hull, John, Jacob, Henry, Catherine Lohr and Ludwig (Lewis)Sell. Adam was a private in Capt. Martin Will's [4th] Co. of the York Co. Militia in 1785. Gravesite Details

While there is no tombstone for Adam Sell, family tradition says that he was buried near his brother, Jacob Sell, Sr. Many older tombstones are now missing from this cemetery. Adam's father, his in-laws and at least three children are buried here.
