Edmond and his siblings, brothers: Leon (aka "Lee",born in 1897; Alphonse, born 1899; Paul, born in 1900; and Jacob Haemmerle, III, born about 1905, spent their boyhood growing up in St. Louis, Missouri.
However, by June 5th, 1917, Edmond, now 21 years old, and working as a clerk, at Missouri State Life Insurance Company, registered with the United States Selective Service Administration, according to information found within the World War I Draft Registration cards. Edmond indicated he was single, at the time of registering.
Edmond served as a Private in the Army, during World War I.
Edmond married Mabel G. Wittling, daughter of Herman and Christine Wittling, after signing up for the draft. According to Edmond's 1920 United States Census, he and Mabel lived with Mabel's parents, on Pleasant Street, in St. Louis, Missouri, for a year or so.
By 1930, Edmond and Mabel were parents of two children. Son Clinton P. Haemmerle; and son Russell J. Haemmerle. It was noted that Mabel's mother, Christina, was now a "widow", and resided with the family, at their home on Farlin Avenue, in St. Louis.
Edmond continued to work in the Insurance business, becoming an Underwriter and Salesman. He and Mabel eventually moved to Florissant, Missouri where they spent the remainder of their years together.
Edmond J. Haemmerle, died on the 14th of July 1961. He was buried at Calvary Cemetery, on the 18th of July 1961. Arrangements were left in care of White-Mullem Mortuary, Ferguson, Missouri.
