MRS. AMELIA ROEBLING KNOCH

PIONEER WOMAN DIES IN SAXONBURG

Mrs. Amelia Knoch Was Member of Roebling Family, First Settlers

Mrs. Amelia Roebling Knoch, last direct descendant of the famous Roebling family, died at 11 o'clock last night in Saxonburg after an illness of about a year's duration. Mrs. Knoch would have celebrated her ninety-sixth birthday had she lived until next July 29.

She was a niece of John August Roebling, inventor of wire rope and designer of the Brooklyn bridge who likewise founded the town of Saxonburg in 1832, or a little more than a century ago. Mrs. Knoch also was a daughter of Carl August Roebling, and leaves to survive her four sons and a daughter, W.H. Knoch, Saxonburg; Frank Knoch, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Alfred Knoch, York, Pa.; Edward Knoch, Dormont; and Miss Ella Knoch, Saxonburg.

Funeral services will be held from the Memorial Lutheran church in Saxonburg at 2 p.m., Wednesday, with the Rev. W.K. Geese, pastor of that church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Saxonburg cemetery where her father is buried.
