A native of Greenville County, S.C., he was the son of the late Rufus Sr. and Annie Strange Ivie.
Mr. Ivie served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Macomson and Goforth Machine Shops. Mr. Ivie was also a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Nell Elizabeth Ivie; a daughter, Betsy Tice; two sisters, Ann Blanton and Betty Jane Billings; two brothers, Ralph and Jack B. Ivie.
He is survived by his three son and daughters-in-law, R.N. "Butch" III and Suzanne B. Ivie and Ron and Barbara Ivie, all of Shelby, and Les and Sheila Ivie of Polkville; a daughter and son-in law, Linda I. and Robert Johnson of Boiling Springs; a son-in-law, Charles Tice of Winston-Salem; a sister and her husband, Kay and Harry Shaffer of Tampa; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center for the love and care they extended.
Visitation: The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
