Kenneth Wehde, 74

Kenneth "Pete" Eugene Wehde, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines from complications of surgery for cancer.

Services will be gin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton with the Rev. DeLane Wright officiating. Burial will be in Woodbridge Cemetery in Buchanan.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family. Money will go towards a tree they will plant in this name.

Mr. Wehde was born April 29, 1926, in Tipton to George C. and Agnes (Stubbs) Wehde. He was a 1944 graduate of Tipton High School. he married Elaine Beverly Muir on Aug. 30, 1952, in Tipton. He served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor at Hallett Construction.

He was a member of the VFW, where he was Past Commander of the Tipton Post, and the Volunteer Fire Department in Tipton.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Kenneth Baker of Cedar Rapids and Christina and Layne Lindebak of Des Moines; two sons and their wives, David and Melissa Wehde of Wilton and Michael and Martha Wehde of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Wehde of Tipton.

His parents and one infant brother, Carl Wehde, died earlier.
