John joined the Navy in March 1947 Served for 20 years and then moved in 1967 to Floydada ,Texas. He worked for the school and drove school bus. He had a heart attack while cleaning out his bus. He married Ivola Irons Evans in 1954 in Bremerton,Washington. He adopted her daughter Dortha. He thought the world of her.
