Clifford Dale Lincoln, 62, died in a small plane accident on Dec. 4, 2004. The plane went down in Corbley Canyon north of Bozeman.

He was born in Bozeman on March 2, 1942, the son of Willard and Minnie (Dale) Lincoln. He lived his life on a family farm near Springhill.

Cliff graduated from Belgrade High School and attended Montana State College for a short period. He was inducted into the Army in January 1964 and served at Bein Hoa, Vietnam, from February 1965 to January 1966 with the 1st Division Unit, HQ Battery.

After returning home, he attended Airframe Mechanics School in Helena. He was dedicated to the farm he grew up on and to working on airplanes. He was especially pleased to serve as crew chief on two F100 jet fighters in Bozeman and two in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Mark Huntsman.

Cliff is survived by his sister, Iverna "Ivy" Huntsman and brother-in-law, Al; two nephews, Alvin Huntsman of Missoula, and Scott (Shirlee) Huntsman and their daughter, Skyeler, all of Three Forks; and many Barclay and Dale cousins. He is also survived by his two special friends, Tina and Jena in California.

Cliff died doing what he loved most, FLYING.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Gallatin Field airport (follow the signs).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gallatin County Historical Society, 317 W. Main St., Bozeman 59715; to the Sons and Daughters of Gallatin Pioneers, 3020 Candy Lane, Bozeman 59715; or to a charity of choice.
