Ercil E. Sooter, 59, Rte. 2, Brumley, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 1979 at his home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Zion Christian Church near Tuscumbia. Mr. Sooter was born June 17, 1920, at Ulman to Alvin and Ella Abbett Sooter. His mother survives at Tuscumbia. Aug 17, 1960, he was married at Kirksville to Lillian Alleen Strutton, who survives at the home.

Mr. Sooter was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was a member of the Iberia VFW Post No. 6167. He was also a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Garner, Springfield, and Mrs. Francis Irwin, Independence; three step-sons, Norman DeGraffenreid, Frank DeGraffenreid and Harold DeGraffenreid, all of Eldon; a step-daughter, Miss Charolette DeGraffenreid, Kansas City; a brother, Gene Sooter, Tuscumbia; and seven grandchildren.

The Rev. Carroll Jeffries officiated at the services. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia.
