The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Null & Son with the Revs. Chuck Whitmire and Ray Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery north of Rolla.

Blanche Fipps was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Maries County to William Jacob and Ada Christine (Riley) Southard. On Jan. 15, 1944, she married Joseph W. Brookshire. After the death of her first husband, Blanche married Delmar B. Fipps in 1958. Mrs. Fipps worked along side her husbands in the construction and sheet metal businesses.

Mrs. Fipps also worked at the Rolla Shoe Factory, a clothing factory, and as a telephone operator. Her last place of employment was Talema Electronics of which she was employed for almost 14 years, retiring at age 73.

Blanche dearly loved listening to gospel-quartet music. She enjoyed using her computer card program to make cards for family and friends and liked very much sending and receiving emails. She was an accomplished seamstress who sewed for others creating garments from doll clothes to bridal gowns and men's suits to winter coats until a stroke took away this ability in 1998.

Blanche Fipps was preceded in death by both husbands, an infant daughter, both parents, one stepdaughter, Dorothy Wilson, one step grandchild, David Brookshire, one brother, Claude Southard, and one sister, Margaret Moreland. Survivors include two children and four step children; Janet Sidener and husband David, of Hardy, Va., Brenda Mesplay and husband David, of Columbia, Mo., Charlotte Fowler and husband Lowell, of Salem, Mo., Maxine Baird and husband Don, of Salem, Mo., Eugene Brookshire and wife Ruby, of Newburg, Mo., and Geneva Miller and husband Rich, of Rolla; as well as 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
