Anna Cecilia Monson, 83, of Leonard, MN, died on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the Clearwater County Hospital in Bagley, MN with her family by her side.

She was born on October 27, 1926, in Tabor, MN, the daughter of Harvey and Barbara (Holy) Johnson. She attended school in Euclid, MN, and in East Grand Forks, graduating from East Grand Forks High School. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, working at the UND President's House while she was a student. While living in East Grand Forks she also worked at North Dakota REA from 1945 until 1947, and at the Grand Forks Creamery from 1948 until 1949. She married Irving Marvin Monson on June 12th, 1950 in Euclid, MN. Together they owned and operated the Monson Oil Company in Leonard, MN, from 1965 until 2006. She also worked at the Lundmark's Café in Bagley, and at the Leonard Coop Creamery for short periods of time.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, where she served in the Ladies Aid, the Ladies Aid Quilters, and as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 256 for 54 continuous years, and of the Good Samaritan Society for over 25 years, where she enjoyed being a Bingo Caller.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, working alongside her husband, gardening, quilting, canning, cooking, baking, reading, sewing, painting, soap making, bird watching, flower gardening, and berry picking. She will be missed for her love of family, sense of humor, faith, outlook on life, and service to others.

She is survived her: Husband, Irving Marvin Monson of Leonard, MN; Sons, Michael (Gayle) Monson of Fort Atkinson, WI, Ronald (Judy) Monson of Perham, MN, Martin Monson of Waseca, MN, Sheldon (Sharin) Monson of Wadena, MN, Daughter, Terry (Steve) Fisher of Bemidji, MN, and 17 grandchildren, 2 brothers - Melvin Johnson of East Grand Forks, MN, Donald (Betty) Johnson of East Grand Forks, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Violet Pearson, and Ruth Pearson.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, MN with Rev. Bob Kirchman officiating.

Visitation will be from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be held in the spring at the East Zion Cemetery in Leonard under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley.
