Amanda Hagen, daughter of William and Sophia (Adrian) Hagen, was born 03 June 1878, in Crawford's Quarry, Presque Isle County, Michigan.
She became a child of God through the sacrament of baptism on 30 June 1878, administered by the Rev. Joseph Antonius Bohn. Her godparents were Johanna Schaedig, Alma Kuhlmann, Wilhelm Bredow.
Little Amanda's body was not strong enough to fight off the dreaded disease of Whooping cough and she passed away on August 31st at the age of only 2 Months, 28 Days. The parents' grief was only doubled when within less that 10 days, Amanda's older sister Maria would also succumb to Whooping cough.
Both sisters were laid to rest next to their two brothers J.W. and William in the little cemetery in Crawford's Quarry.
This cemetery was later eliminated when the entire Crawford's Quarry area was swallowed up by the Calcite limestone quarry plant. All the graves were removed and reinterred at the Memorial Park cemetery in Rogers City. This is where mother Sophia and her five little children now rest.
