Agnes Lucille Dixon, 88, of Waycross died Tuesday afternoon at Satilla Care Center after an extended illness. Born in Blackshear, Miss Dixon resided most of her life in Ware County where she was a carrier for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and the Savannah Morning News Newspapers. She was also involved in working with Hospice, the American Cancer Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

The daughter of the late James Strickland Dixon, and Sarah Jane Proctor Dixon, Miss Dixon was preceded in death by three sisters, Aline Dixon Keller, Nell Dixon Strickland, Sallie Mae Dixon Edgell, and two brothers, James M. Dixon, and Eustace P. Dixon.

Surviving Miss Dixon are five sisters, Elinor Carter (Carroll) of Waycross, Crystal Gardner (Jim) of Waycross, Marilyn Pittman (Jack) of Waycross, Grace Altman of Waycross, Ernestine Langford (Hugh) of Brunswick, GA, two brothers, Kenneth A. Dixon (Sue) of St. Augustine, FL., William G. Dixon (Hazel) of Waycross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday September 21, 2001 at Central Baptist Church with burial in Blackshear City Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
