Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Mrs. Edith L. Hess of the home: two daughters,Mrs. Richard (Joann) Street and Mrs. David (Wanda) Barrett both of Honaker: four sons, Hassell Clark, Claude Hess and Louie Hess all of Battle Creek, Michigan and J. P. Hess of Honaker: four sisters; Mrs. Clyde (Belle) Taylor, Mrs. Clyde (Grace) Hess and Mrs. Clarence (Char Mae) Hess all of Lebanon, Virginia and Mrs. Bill (Carrie) Tipton of Welch, West Virginia: two brothers, Bernie Hess of Manassas, Virginia and Taze Hess of Baltimore, Maryland : fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandsons also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady McGlothlin and Rev. Thurman Honaker officiating.
Burial followed in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
