Her parents were Charles E. Alpers (born in Alameda Ca. 1839) her mother was ClaraBell (Reader)also a pioneer family in Grass Valley area. The Reader Ranch still remains and is a working cattle ranch today. Likely they are enturned in a cemetery in Grass Valley on the Marysville Highway.

Myrtle's family moved to Grass Valley in 1910.
Widow of Thomas Jeffery. Myrtle worked at Jones Memorial Hospital and at Camp Beale in World War 2. She was a member of the Friendship Circle ot the Companions of the Forest and of the Golden Age Club.
She is survived by her daughter Clara B Winney of Grass Valley; sisters Amanda Krelle of Santa Monica and Doris Payne of San Pedro; grandaughter Lonnette Turner of Grass Valley; grandsons Gary and Monty Winney of Roseville and nine Great-Grandchildren.
