William Davis was born in Bartholomew county, Indiana, February 27, 1832. He lived in Indiana until about thirty years of age. Here he met and married Mrs. Martha Ann Comer who preceded him to the unknown about six years ago. Nine, children, five girls and four boys, blessed this union. Six are still living. They are Mrs. Margret St. John of Unionvill e; Mrs Millie Kearns, Gunnison, Utah; Mrs Hulda St John of Western Kansas; Mrs Martha Novinger of Unionville; Jake of Kirksville and Lewis of Seymour, Ia. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs Kearns and Mrs Hulda St. John. Before leaving Indiana both Mr. Davis and his wife joined the Christian church in which they were comafcent and loyal members until after they came to Unionville whey they transferred the ir membership to the Church of Christ where his faith rested until the clo se of his life. His life was an exemplification of the best in Christianity and was devoted to right living and serving the Master. Mr. Davis is well known here, having lived in this county for thirty-nine years and in Unionville for more than eighteen years. The malady to which the immediate cause of his death is attributed to stomach trouble. This coupled with his age, made him unable to withstand his ravages. He died April 4, 1911. The funeral was held at the Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m. Friday, t he services being conducted by Rev. Parker of Memphis, a former past er of Mr. Davis. The body was interred after these services in the Unionville cemetery to await the final judgment Day.
