Hattie and Harvey soon moved to Forney's Creek in Swain County, NC where Harvey worked in the logging industry. In 1910 her father had passed away, so her mother Cinthia and younger brothers Johnny and Jesse lived with them and their three small children. By 1930, Harvey got a job with ALCOA in Maryville, TN and they moved to that area of Blount County.
