James Harvey Shoup, 76-year-old Rimersburg native, died at 6:40 a.m. yesterday (April 9, 1959) as the result of a heart attack. He had resided at 535 Crider Hill Road, Pittsburgh 37, and was a patient for nine days in Bellevue Suburban Hospital.
One of a family of seven, he was a son of Adam and Rachel Somerville Shoup and was born at Rimersburg on Oct. 9, 1882. During his lifetime he was occupied as a carpenter and building contractor. He was a member of Community United Presbyterian Church of Highland.
His wife, Mrs. Velma Harkleroad Shoup, formerly of Rural Valley, survives, along with one brother, Wallace of Rimersburg.
Friends will be received at the Clark funeral home, Elderton, after noon Saturday. Funeral services will be held there at 3:30 p.m. Sunday with his pastor, the Rev. Stephen L. Polley of Pittsburgh, officiating.
Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery.
