Walter Chappell owned and operated the Chappell Saw Mill in Littleton from about 1910 to 1930. He had a large home in Littleton which had boarders, mostly mill workers. He never had children but he and his wife [Roxie Herrin Chappell] raised a little boy [Howard Herrin] as their own. They also had the little boys, Earl and Eddie Chappell, children of Walter's brother Edward D. Jr., living with them at times.
