This has been confusing over the years. When Jimmie was born, her father (James L. Craven) gave the male name (James) to Jimmie. This is the name he was going to give his son (which he had hoped for). He went ahead and named his new baby girl "James" anyway. As James grew, she came to the realize that she would rather be known as "Jimmie", a nickname she had picked up.
Jimmie was the descendant of Sir William Craven, Lord Mayor of London in the year 1610-1611 and 1618. Sir William was knighted by King James. http://thepeerage.com/p2054.htm
