Services for Roy McCollum, 86, of Hale Center, TX were held Monday, November 11, 2002 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Hale Center with Rev. Carrol Green of First Baptist Church in Loop, Texas and Silas Short of Post, Texas officiating.

Burial followed in the Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center.

Mr. McCollum died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Hale County Nursing Center in Hale Center, Texas.

He was born on April 26, 1916 in Tolbert, Texas. He married Ruby Goree on December 16, 1939 in Quanah, Texas. She passed away in 1975. He has lived in Hale Center since 1960 where he was a longtime deacon of the First Baptist Church. He served as president of Hale Center Senior Citizens Association and was a founding member of Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum.

Survivors include

2 sons, Dwayne McCollum of Midland, TX and Dennis McCollum of Lubbock, TX

4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He is preceded by a brother, Troy McCollum and 2 sisters, Edna Jones and Juanita Williams.

Pallbearers include nephews, and Honorary Pallbearers include the deacons of the First Baptist Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Hale Center Sr. Citizens Assoc, First Baptist Church or Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum.
