Bernhard Georg Seyfert was born December 22, 1884 in the town of Addison, Wisconsin. Both of his parents died when he was a boy of 11 years old.

After the death of his parents he lived with an uncle for a few years. During this time he was instructed in the principle doctrines of the Christian Faith and through the act of confirmation became a member of the Lutheran Church.

Bernard came to the state of Kansas in the year 1909 and was married to Lydia M. Blocker on September 6, 1916. This union was blessed by three sons and one daughter.

Their first home was in Clark County, Kansas. Two years ago they moved to Scott County, Kansas. Mr. Seyfert had always been in good health until about three years ago. Last Sunday he suddenly became ill and died two days later on December 13th.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his grief striken wife, Gerhardt, age 10, Walter, age 8, Julius 5, Hulda 3, besides two brothers, one brother having preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church, Friday at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. Walter Wehmeier, pastor of the Lutheran Church, and burial was made in the Scott City Cemetery.
