Jason "Bubba" Arthur, 34, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlin and Marie Butcher and Fannie Arthur. He graduated in June 1995 from Glenvar High School where he lettered in football and baseball, helped coaching Glenvar to State Championship in 1995. He was employed by Hooters and Duncan Auto in Roanoke. He is survived by his father, Kermit Arthur and wife, Marilyn, of Waiteville, W.Va.; mother, Linda Wills, of Salem; two sisters, Katrina Wright, and Terri Carter and husband, Bryan; two brothers, Randy Arthur and wife, Sandra, of Rocky Mount, and Billy Arthur and wife, Thelma, of Richmond; nieces, Shayla Carter, of Salem, Jodi Arthur, of Richmond, and Brandi Arthur, of Roanoke; nephews, James Wright and Tyler Carter, of Salem, Dekota and Nathan Arthur, of Rocky Mount, Chris Arthur, of Richmond, and Randy Ray Arthur, of Florida; aunts, Shirley Bostic, of New Castle, Phyllis Crosier, of Waiteville, Kitty Lunsford, of Troutville, Maxine Hall, of Burnt Chimney, Loretta Vidito, of Richmond, Caroline Arthur, of Waiteville, Brenda Ratcliffe, of Salem, Gladys Perfater, of Salem, Rosalee Butcher, of Dublin, and Linda Butcher, of Salem; uncles, Gary Butcher, of Salem, David Butcher, of Dublin, Wayne Perfater, and Roger Ratcliffe, of Salem; dear friends, Paul Grimm, of Florida, and Marilynn Bowles, of Salem. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 12, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the House of Prayer, 2521 Portland Ave. (Peters Creek to Cove Road between Sheetz and Bank then left on Portland Ave.), Roanoke with the Rev. Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Arthur Cemetery, Waiteville, W.Va. Bubba will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. Published in Roanoke Times on February 12, 2010
