H.T. Abernathy
Funeral services for Herbert Townsend Abernathy of Flora were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Harlands Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Self officiating, assisted by the Reverend James Jordan. Interment was in the church cemetery. Southern Funeral Home was in charge.
Mr. Abernathy died Thursday at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Abernathy; two daughters, Mrs. Merelyn Jean Potter and Miss Swayze Abernathy, both of Flora; two sons, Billy Joe Abernathy of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Mack W. Abernathy of Swifttown; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Hardy of Edwards, Mrs. Dora Smith of Memphis, Mrs. Lillian Hocutt and Mrs. Erma Harthcock, both of Baton Rouge, LA.; and one brother, J.P. Abernathy of Bolton.
Pallbearers were Junior Purvis, Earnest Harthcock, Jr., Herbert Harthcock, Raymond Sims, Lindy Covington and Bennie Killebrew.
