Death Summons Another of Prentiss' Oldest Landmarks: Victim is Mrs. Mary Hartzog
Aged Lady Leaves Two Children and a Host of Friends to Mourn Her
Death claimed another of Prentiss' old citizens Tuesday morning at an early hour when Mrs. Mary Hartzog breathed her last at her home in the suburbs of the city. The funeral took place Wednesday.
Mrs. Mary Hartzog was about eighty years of age at the time of her death Tuesday morning. Most of this time has been spent here, having come from the coast country of this state many years ago. She was formerly Miss Mary McCloskey, and was twice married, the first time to Calvin Luper, who preceded her to the other world several years ago. Later she married Andrew Hartzog, who likewise preceded her. Two children were born to her by her first husband and two by her last. Only the two first survive her. They are J. N. Luper and Mrs. Alice Brady, both of this city.
Mrs. Hartzog was throughout her lifetime a consistent member of Bethany Baptist church, and her many kind deeds and her gentle disposition surrounded her with many warm friends.
