Tacy Stille Smith was the first wife of the Rev. Samuel Smith, who preached at Montgomery Baptist Church in the 1820s. She was the mother of the Rev. Lewis Smith and Mary, who died very young. Samuel married his second wife, Mary Griffith, a member of the church's congregation, about 5 months after Tacy's death and had a daughter, named Tacy Amelia Smith (named after this Tacy) on 3 July 1826, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Her son, Lewis, grew up to become a Baptist minister, like his father. He married Mary Ennis. They had no children. He died in middle age of tuberculosis, after being infirm for many years. He and his wife enjoyed working in missions in the American West, but his poor health kept him from doing all that he wanted to do. After his death, his wife published a collection of his sermons and wrote a short biography of his life, including the deep sorrow he felt when he lost his mother when he was only 4 and his little sister, Mary, when he was about 11. His wife's writing showed the reverence she had for him and his work.
