To this union 5 children were born, Jakob, Jakob, Anna Margaretha and twins Carl and Heinrich. 1st Jakob and Heinrich died in infancy. The family migrated to the United States in 1892 aboard the ship Marsala. Anna Margaretha is believed to have died on the voyage and Maria is believed to have died not long after their arrival. Jakob second married Anna Elisabeth Hoffaerber in 1896 in Geneva, Nebraska. To this union 12 children were born; George, Lydia, Anna Margaret, John, Godfrey, Mary, Ruben, Harry, Daniel, Adam, Lawrence and Rose.
