Amy Maxine Thomson, 79, of Washburn, IL, formerly of Memphis, MO, died October 27, 2004, at her home.

She was born the daughter of Grover C. and Hazel (Calhoun) Crook on November 4, 1924, in Kilwinning in Scotland County, MO.

She attended school at North Barker.

She married Herbert Thomson on October 14, 1949.

Amy worked at the Scotland County Care Center. Upon retirement, she volunteered with the Community Action Agency.

Amy was a very accomplished quilter. One of her quilts won a prize at the Antique Fair. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends, gardening, playing games with her grandchildren, trail rides, and raising fox terriers. Amy is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Harry; and a special friend, Archie Winn.

She is survived by her children, James Richard and his wife, Ardith Thomson of Memphis, MO, Michael Thomson of Memphis, MO, Bonnie and husband, David Hayes of Washburn, MO; Sandra and husband, Gary Harrison of Alexandria, MO; a brother, Claude E. and Elaine Crook of Downing, MO; sisters-in-law, Frieda Lee Crook of Memphis, MO and Berniece and husband, Bob Shanes of Memphis, MO; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services were held November 1, 2004, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Jack Sumption officiating. Burial was in the Barker Cemetery. Ann Luther and Schelle Cooley provided the music. Pallbearers were Josh Wilson, Bobby Shelley, Sam Hayes, Terry Crook, Norm Mayberry, and Tony Hayes. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Harrison, Stacey Harrison, and Jim Hayes. Memorials have been suggested to the O.S.F. Hospice in Peoria, IL or the Barker Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main Street, Memphis, MO 63555.
