RETIRED WARRANT OFFICEER TEDDY A. FINLEY, 45, of 11686 Brookdale Drive, Waynesboro, was pronounced dead at 4:28 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in the emergency-room of the Waynesboro Hospital. Death was unexpected and attributed to a heart attack while jogging at Fort Ritchie. \ Born Sept. 27, 1945, in Lepanto, Ark., he was the son of Jimmie Marrie (Butler) Finley of California and the late Elmo Powell Finley. Mr. Finley graduated from Hanford High School in Hanford, Calif., with the Class of 1963 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Camel University, Fayetteville, N.C., in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, retiring in June 1986. While serving in the Army, he was ­stationed in various states. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and also served with the Special Forces and Delta Force. \
Following his retirement from the service, he went to work at Fort Ritchie with the US. Army 1108th Signal Brigade as a security; specialist. J
He and his wife, Deborah (Turbeville) Finley, were married in 1985 and moved to the Waynesboro area in 1986. They moved to their present residence in January.
Mr. Finley was a member of the Waynesboro Bible Church and the Adult Sunday School Class of the church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter Kara N. Finley, at home; and one sister, Patricia Homan of California He was preceded in death by one sister. * Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Road, with the Rev. Robert Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. \ The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.. Sunday in the Grove Funeral Home. ! There will be no public viewing at the church.
