Clenon enlisted in the US Army January 23, 1942 at Camp Wolters, Texas, and served in Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry, 9th Division

He was killed in action during World War II while serving with the 47 Infantry, 9th Division, US Army. His brother, PFC Curtis Short, died 10-11 days earlier (reports vary)

He was the son of James Clay and Olevia Betty Short. Also survived by two brothers, and James N. "Bud" Short.

MAN KILLED IN ACTION
Cecil Short, 1617 Chestnut, yesterday received the second casualty message within eight days when news came that his brother Sgt. Clennon Short, 26, was killed in action in Germany Jan. 28.
Feb. 8, word came that another brother, Sgt. Curtis Short, 23, killed in Belgium less than two weeks earlier__Jan. 17.
Sons of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Short of Gorman, the brothers met recently somewhere in Europe for their first visit together in three and a half years.
The widow of Sergeant Curtis lives in Stephenville and another brother, James (Bud) Short of Fort Worth, survives the two.
