Caleonia Mn March 15,1889 Dear Mr. Gonner! Satuday in the after noon, Johannes Koob, mostly called "Gropapa Koob" (Grandpa Koob) well prepared with the holy sacraments, after a sickness of several weeks, passed away to the better beyond. The deceased was born in Mensdorf on July 31st 1808 thus older than 80 years. In 1854 Koob emigrated to America with his family, first to St.Donatus, Jackson Co, and later to Caledonia. His sons Johann and Anton Koob and the latter's daughter Mrs. Arensdorf came in due time, to say farewell to the dying man and to follow the remains to his grave. 9 years ago the wife of the deceased preceeded him into death. During this last time, he lived with his third son Rs, Koob in Caledonia. His remains were buried with a great assistance of friends and acquaintances in the Catholic Cemetery. RIP
