Navy in 1942, and served in the South Pacific until 1946. Following the service, he returned home to Henderson.

Morris and Dorothy Mary Steele of Carson, Iowa, were married on May 3, 1947 in the Presbyterian Church Parsonage in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
