BENJAMIN 'BEN' STANGEL
(1935 - 2010)

Benjamin "Ben" Stangel, age 74, of 18321 Stangel Rd., Tisch Mills, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at the Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.

Ben was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Manitowoc County, to the late Benjamin and Anna Beranek Stangel, and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of the Mishicot High School, graduating with the class of 1953. He married the former Beverly Dewane on Aug. 25, 1956, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Stangelville. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2002. Ben was employed as a welder for the Kewaunee Enginering Co., the Frank Hamachek Machine Co. and for the Kewaunee Machine Co., where he retired in 2001. He was also a 4th generation farmer on the family farmstead in Tisch Mills. Ben was a member of the St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He was a member of the Catholic Family Insurance, the Squeeker's Sip Club, and served as a volunteer for the Tisch Mills Fire Department.

Ben is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Theresa and Mark Weyker, of Milwaukee; Margaret Stangel, of Manitowoc; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Philip and Mary Stangel, of Burnsville, Minn.; James and Laurie Stangel, of Tisch Mills; John and Karen Stangel, of Kaukauna; Michael Stangel and his fiancee, Sarah Jacobs, both of Tisch Mills; and 12 grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Reverend Mark Stangel, of Milwaukee; David and Mary Stangel, of Manitowoc; and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Msr. John Dewane, of Rome, Italy; Gerald and Marlene Dewane, of Two Rivers; Leland and Linda Servais of Ariz.; Lawrence and Ann Servais, of Two Rivers; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, with the Reverend Mark Stangel officiating, and will be concelebrated with Msr. John Dewane and the Reverend Dennis Drury and assisted by Deacon Robert Pribek. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m on Wednesday at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S. State St., Mishicot. There will be a 7 p.m. parish wake service Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
