Ralph W. Mann, age 87 of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest February 7, 2010 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was the beloved husband of Idella (Avery) Mann. Mr. Mann was born August 10, 1922 in Derby, son of the Late Ralph and Harriet (Forsyth) Mann. Ralph was the president and owner of Ralph Mann and Sons Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning in Ansonia. As a World War II veteran, Mr. Mann served in the Army Air Corps and piloted the P 51 Mustang Airplane with the 357th Fighter Group of the 8th Air Force. Following the war, he served in the Air Corps Reserves and was honorably discharged on September 28, 1957 as 1st Lieutenant Ralph was an active 56 year member of the Seymour Congregational Church. Mr. Mann served on the Board of Directors of both the Housatonic Council Boys Scouts of America, and the Valley YMCA. He was also a Corporator of Hewitt Memorial Hospital, and a former member of the Ansonia Rotary Club. In his youth, Ralph played guitar in a local band called The Pacific Islanders. In his free time, Ralph was a volunteer caregiver with CT Hospice and his interests included artwork, and sailing. In addition to his wife, Ralph leaves his loving family including his daughter, Connie Wiesniak and her husband, Stanley of Oxford; his son, Craig Mann and his wife, Michelle of Woodbridge; a brother, George Mann of Port Charlotte, Fla.; three grandchildren, Stacey and Ryan Mann of Seymour and Craig Michael Mann of Woodbridge; and several nieces and nephews. His sisters, Harriet Mitchell and Virginia Cann, predeceased him. A Funeral Service in celebration of Ralph's life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Seymour Congregational Church, 15 Broad St., Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour.
