AMERICAN FORK - Ira Jay Taylor. 55, died Saturday, Aug 26, 1978 in the American Fork Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born July 25, 1923 in Preston, Ida. to Ira Jessop and Nora Alice Winger Taylor He married Gwen Hogan Dec. 20, 1942 in Lewiston, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Taylor was the second counselor in the American Fork North Stake Presidency. He was the former bishop of the American Fork Sixth Ward. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was the manager of the personnel maintenance and purchasing departments for the American Fork Hospital.
Survivors include his wife; four sons and one daughter. Jay Clayton Taylor, Broomfield, Colo. ; David Kim Taylor, Fort Collins, Colo. ; Kandy Clark Taylor. Vallejo, Calif. ; Michael Brent Taylor and Lisa Taylor, both of American Fork; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dale R. (Maxine) Jensen, Midvale; Mrs. Doran V. (Jackie) Eustance, Murray; Mrs. Alice Engstrum, Sandy, and his step-mother, Leah Taylor, Murray.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the American Fork North Stake Center, 825 E. 500 N. Friends may call at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
