She was born in Columbus County to the late William and Cornelia Smith Benton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two daughters, Betty Benton and Lois Manus.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry Spivey, and wife, Diane, of Burgaw; and James Foss, and wife, Rose, of Wilmington; five daughters, Inez Pierce, of Rocky Point, Mary Frye, of Atkinson, Annie Ruth Lucas, and husband, Mike, of Wilmington, Faye Quick, of Atkinson, and Jenny Moore, and husband, John, of Bolton; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 11th in the Smith Cemetery by Jason L. Benton.
