WINCHENDON, July 13 - Alvah J. Derby, 64, 299 Front street, died suddenly yesterday while assisting with some work about the house.
He was born in Lunenburg, a son of Hiram and Mary (MacDonald) Derby. He had been employed by the Winchendon Electric Light and Power Co. for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Gowen) Derby; two sons, Roderick C. of East Jaffrey, N. H. Charles S. of Winchendon: two daughters, Mrs. Pauline M. Akers of Worcester, Mrs. Barbara F. Taylor of Winchendon; two brothers Henry of Chicago, Edwin of Keene, N. H.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Whittenmore, Mrs. Nellie Mawhinnie and Mrs. Elsie Hayes, all of this town, and 11 grandchildren. Services will be held from the Ernest P. Fletcher funeral homes, 14 Oak street, tomorrow at 2 p m Rev. Willard I Shattuck of the Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Village cemetery in Fitzwilliam, N. H.
