Sarah Edith Root was born on 21 Jun.,1888 in Kansas, the daughter of William Leonard and Eliza (Thompson) Root. In abt.1913/14 she married Oliver Irvin Alton in ( ? ) and they were the parents of 3 children,2 boys and 1 girl : Leonard Irvin b.21 Apr.1915 in Kansas, Donald M. b.1916 in Kansas, & Esther J. b. abt.1923/24 in Indiana. She died on 31 May 1979 and is buried in Alton Cemetery, which is located just south of the 4 lane hwy 50 on S. Anson Rd.,take the first road on the right, which is Co Rd SE 200 S (E Palmyra Rd) and the Alton Cemetery is on the right on top of a hill.
