Married 28 May 1868 to Catharine Electa Berrian at Brooklyn, Kings, New York
He was the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut in 1888. He later became the Master of the State Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, and was president of the Connecticut Dairymen's Association, a director of the Connecticut Jersey Breeders' Association, and president of the Patrons' Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Hartford, Connecticut. In 1862, at the age of twenty-one, he received his degree of M.D. from the University of New York.
