Steven Brian Hale, 53, of New London died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born May 23, 1956, in Des Moines, he was the son of Benjamin and Rowena Garman Hale. He married Susan Smith. They divorced. On May 23, 2009, he married Becky Sinclair in Danville.

Mr. Hale worked in security with Pinkerton Security, Rayco Security, and, for the last five years, with Metro Group in Mount Pleasant. He attended schools in Des Moines. He attended Oakland Mills Community Church in Oakland Mills. He enjoyed painting, woodworking and gardening.


Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Emily Hale of Keokuk and Crystal Christopherson of New Lenox, Ill.; one son, Brian Hale of Keokuk; three stepdaughters, Jennifer Miles of Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, Jessica Cline of Newton and Janice Sinclair of New London; one stepson, Jeffrey Cline of New London; six grandchildren; his mother of Des Moines; one brother, Bernie Hale of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Lana Hemann and Anita Parker, both of Des Moines; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Hale will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Daryl Jesup officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established.
