JAMES B. ABELL JR., 65, died Sept. 19, 2003, at his residence in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Born July 1, 1938, in Marion County, Abell served in the United States Navy and served two terms in the Marines where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James B. and Amanda Louise Thomas Abell; and two sisters, Mary B. Johnston and Bernice Bakes. Survivors include: a son, Steve Abell of Portland, Texas; two daughters, Katherine Day of Franklin, Tenn., and Susan R. Abell of Danville; three brothers, Robert H. Abell of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Marion C. Abell of Louisville and Joseph C. Abell of Stottville, N.Y.; and two sisters, Elsie Reynolds of Louisville and Susan Smith of Lebanon. Funeral services were held at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home in Daytona Beach, Fla. Graveside services were held at Holy Name of Mary Cemetery by Rev. David Naylor.
