"RANDALL W. ROSE
Randall W. Rose died Wednesday last at his residence near Bay View of Chronic Bright's disease, after an illness of ten months, in his 68th year. Mr. Rose was born in Bensalem Township, Berks (sic Bucks) Co., Pa., October 3, 1845, the second son of the late Timothy V. and Margaret Rose. At the age of eleven years he moved with his parents to the farm where he died, and where he had spent his entire life, devoted to the interest of his father, till manhood, clearing away the woodland, and developing the farm which was destined to be his lifelong home. In Dec. 28, 1871, he married Sarah S. Alexander, from which union was born eight children, six of whom survive him-Caleb V., and Fred E., of Newark, N. J., Marion E. and William C., of North East, Rufus B. and Mrs. William T. Booth, who resided with him on the old homestead.
In politics Mr. Rose was an adherent of the Republican party, but never sought office of any kind, never caring for publicity or the attention which a public official attracts, preferring rather to devote his life as a kind and considerate neighbor, a loving and indulgent brother and father, happy in the belief of a heavenly reward for the true Christian; he having been for a great many years a member of the Bay View Methodist Protestant Church.
The funeral was held Friday, APril 4, from his late residence; interment in Bay View Cemetery."
