Death Of Wm. B. Ammerman
Another Civil War Soldier Answers to the Last Roll Call

Another soldier of the civil war answered the last roll call Thursday at 12:35, when William B. Ammerman passed to eternal rest at his home at 720 Seminary avenue. He was in his eighty-first year, and has been growing feebler for some time. The machinery of life ran down and the end came painlessly and quietly. Funeral services were held at the family residence at one o'clock Friday, followed by interment in Floral Hill.

William B. Ammerman was born in Davis county, Indiana, July 9, 1834. In his early manhood he enlisted in Company D, 85th Indiana volunteer infantry, in which he served through the war.

After his return he was united in marriage at Ash Grove with Miss Martha Bickman, the mother of his four children, as follows: Mrs. Charles McMahon of Cissna Park, Mrs. Harvey McMahon of Fort Wayne, Melvin Ammerman of Onarga and Morton Ammerman of this city.

After his first wife's death he married twice, but there were no children from either of the last marriages. He came to Hoopeston about twenty-five years ago, and has lived here ever since.
