Willard, who resided at 115 North Walnut Street, Milford, Delaware, served as a Staff Sergeant on B-17 #42-3126, 4th Squadron, 34th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 8, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Photgrapher and also as Single, without dependents.

Willard died in the "Line Of Duty" when his B-17 crashed, for unknown reasons, 30 miles south of Ehrenberg, in Yuma County, Arizona.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year and eight months at the time of his death.
