Darlene Courtney, 67, of Salina, IA, passed away at her home on January 28, 2005.

The daughter of Curtis Leo and Eathel Octavia (Lasley) Palmer, she was born on December 5, 1937, in Downing, MO.

She was a graduate of the Downing High School with the class of 1956.

She was married to Alfred Lee Courtney on April 4, 1975 in Burlington, IA. Darlene was a production worker for Experian in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where she retired from in May 2004.

Darlene is survived by her mother, Eathel Palmer of Queen City, MO; her husband, Alfred Lee Courtney of Salina, IA; her children, Leo House of Corpus Christi, TX, Donnie House and wife, Trish of Burlington, IA, Terry House and wife, Cheryl of Richland, IA, Doug House of Fairfield, IA, Diane Henry and husband, Kevin of Farmington, IA, Sharon Ryder and husband, Jay of Fairfield, IA; two step-children, Jon Courtney and wife, Linda of Libertyville, IA and Margie Curtis of Fairfield, IA; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Cain of Danville, IA, Mary Parker and husband, William (Bud) of Burlington, IA and Kay Palmer of Corpus Christi, TX; one niece, Belinda Everington of Virginia Beach, VA; two nephews, Kevin Parker of Chicago, IL and Tony Parker of Burlington, IA; one aunt, Lucille Manning and husband, Lee of Burlington, IA.

Her father; one sister, Arla Mae Palmer; two sons, Allen Wayne Palmer and Charles Keith House; one grandson, James Edward House; one aunt and husband, Thelma and Raymond Puttoff, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held February 1, 2005, at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church officiating. Organist, Maureen Watkins provided musical selections. Pallbearers were Ray Davis (Skeeter), Hank Tusing, Mike Tusing, Eric Tusing, Jon Courtney and Jonny Courtney. Honorary pallbearers were Rich Gill, Tom Manning, Hollis Palmer and Don Hocker. Burial was in the Coffey Cemetery south of Downing, MO. Memorials have been established for the family.
