Nancy Jane (N.J.) (Proctor) Clarkson, daughter of William Proctor and Mary E. (Maxwell) Truer, was born March 1, 1826 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. She married John Clarkson on October 7, 1845 in Jackson Township, Champaign County, Ohio. To this union were born four children being William Richard Clarkson, Mary Ellen (Clarkson) Kibbe, Charles Wesley Clarkson and Anna Elizabeth Clarkson. In 1849, John and Nancy Jane Clarkson settled in Magnolia, Rock County, Wisconsin. In about 1870, they separated and Nancy Jane left Wisconsin. She, together with son Charles Wesley and William Richard and family took up homesteads in Buffalo Township, Jewell County, Kansas in 1871. In 1872, her daughter Mary Ellen and husband, Millard Kibbe, joined them in Jewell County. In about 1880, Nancy Jane sold her homestead to John Clarkson and she and her son William Richard Clarkson and family left Jewell County to settle in Davis County, Iowa. Nancy Jane Clarkson is a half-sister to James Proctor who is also buried in this cemetery.
